Big Channel Update – New Courses, Series, and More!

Hey everyone,

I’ve mentioned before that some big changes are coming to the channel; and today I’m excited to share what’s new, what’s evolving, and what’s staying the same.

Tutorial Series and Courses

The biggest change is to how we deliver tutorial series. From now on, these will be fully pre-recorded, modular, and challenge-driven.

Each course will be broken into structured modules, with several episodes per module. At the end of each module, you’ll get a challenge to put your new skills into practice.

First up:
The long-awaited Survival Game Course. This project has faced a few delays in the past, but we’ve now streamlined the design and cut out the fluff-it’s finally ready to go.

Access Levels:

  • 🥇 Platinum & Diamond Members: Get full access to the entire course on Day One.
  • 🥈 Gold & Silver Members: Get one full module at a time (the first course includes 7 modules).
  • 🥉 Bronze Members: Get early access to episodes, released weekly; 4 weeks ahead of public release.

Retro Remake – Rebooted as a Series

Our Retro Remake livestreams are evolving into a 10-episode structured series, released weekly. This format means:

  • Faster development cycles
  • More than one Retro Remake per year
  • A tighter, more focused experience

We’ll be picking up where we left off with the River City Ransom remake in Unreal Engine 5.

New Interactive Series: Designed by Committee

This new 10-episode series invites you to help design a game live!
Here’s how it works:

  • Each episode starts by randomly drawing design ideas suggested by you
  • We then implement those ideas live into a working prototype
  • No plan, no script; just creative chaos and fun!

What’s Staying the Same?

  • Standalone Tutorial Videos: We’ll continue weekly tutorials focusing on tools, features, and techniques-these aren’t going anywhere.
  • Early Access for Patrons: All patrons still get early access to tutorials.
  • Question Time Livestreams: Still happening, same time, same place.
  • Mimic Playtesting Livestreams: This will continue as part of the weekly content schedule.

Looking Ahead

We’re actively planning even more new series and ideas for the channel. Got a concept or challenge you’d like to see tackled? Leave a comment below or reach out-we’d love to hear from you.

Thanks for all your support, and here’s to the next exciting chapter for Ryan Laley Games!
